Michael Going Photographs Old Bank District

M i c h a e l . G o i n g Altered Polaroid SX-70 Photographs

Old Bank District Commission
Selections page 1

This work was commissioned by Gilmore Associates in the fall of 2005 and completed in early 2006.

The Old Bank District is part of the historical core of downtown Los Angeles and it's beautiful architecture is evocative of New York City. The integrity and majesty of these historical buildings, many of which are over 100 years old is endlessly fascinating. It is an area unlike any other in the infinite Los Angeles tableau.

I feel this project a perfect match of subject and my photographic style. The forms and shapes with the ever changing light lend themselves perfectly to my Polaroid alteration. The look and feel of this pulsing and vital area constantly energized me.

The final prints were made 30 x 30 inches in a limited edition of 12 each.
A grateful thanks toTom Gilmore, Jerri Perrone and Steve Portigiani for this wonderful opportunity to create art.
